Privacy Policy
rowno is a to-do app for you and the people you work with. This policy explains what it stores about you, why, and how to have it deleted. In short: we keep what the app needs to work, we don’t sell it, we don’t show ads, and we don’t track you.
What we store
- Your account. When you sign in with Apple or Google: your name, email address and, if you have one, your profile picture. Apple lets you hide your email; then we only see the relay address Apple gives us.
- What you create. Projects, boards, tasks (titles, notes, links, checklists, dates, repeat rules) and the history of changes in projects you’re in.
- Your settings. Notification preferences, default project, the colours and backgrounds you pick, your time zone (for the morning summary), and which tasks have an alarm.
- Photos you choose. A profile picture, and photos you set as project backgrounds.
- Device tokens for sending you push notifications.
- Usage statistics and crash reports (Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics): which screens are opened and what kinds of things are done (for example, that a task with a due date was added), the app version, device model and system version, and what went wrong when the app crashes. Never what’s in your projects, and no advertising identifier. They aren’t linked to your account. You can turn them off in Profile › Share usage and crash data.
End-to-end encryption
The names and descriptions of your projects and boards, and your tasks’ titles, notes, checklists and links, are encrypted on your phone before they’re stored, with keys only the people in the project have. The same goes for the tasks you share with people you connect with. We and our service providers store them but can’t read them. Your key is kept in your device’s Keychain and reaches your other Apple devices through iCloud Keychain.
Not encrypted, because the service needs them to work: your name, picture and email; who is in which project; dates, status and assignees of tasks; and your settings. Push notifications therefore say what happened (“Kate added a task”) without the task’s title.
What stays on your phone
- Your phone’s calendars. If you allow it, the app reads events from the calendars on your phone to show them on its Calendar tab. They are not uploaded. Only if you turn an event into a task does that task (not the event) get stored, like any other task.
- Reminders and alarms are scheduled on your device.
Who sees your data
- People in your projects see the projects’ boards, tasks and history, and your name and picture.
- People you connect with (Calendar › Connect) see your open tasks that have a set time, and your name and picture. You can disconnect at any time.
- Service providers. Data is stored and processed by Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage, server functions, push notifications, analytics, crash reports and App Check, which confirms requests come from the real app) on servers in the United States. Sign-in goes through Apple or Google.
We don’t sell your data, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it to track you across apps and websites.
Why we use it
To provide the app: to sign you in, keep your tasks in sync across your devices, share projects with the people you invite, and send the notifications you’ve switched on. Usage statistics and crash reports only to find problems and make the app better.
Keeping and deleting it
We keep your data while you have an account. To delete it, open Profile › Delete Account in the app. This deletes your profile, settings, photos and the projects you own (with their boards and tasks, for everyone in them), and removes you from other projects. Deleting is immediate and can’t be undone; backups of the database expire within 30 days.
Children
rowno isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data. You can do most of this in the app; for anything else, write to us.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the date above. For significant changes we’ll let you know in the app.
